Conceived by the Instituto BioSistêmico (IBS) and funded by the Zoetis Foundation, the Project MS Sul Leite aims to strengthen family dairy farming in the southern region of Mato Grosso do Sul, in the Central-West region of Brazil.

Developed alongside the members of the Agricultural Cooperative of Dairy Producers of Ponta Porã (Cooperporã), the project promotes specialized technical assistance, training, and the application of technologies that contribute to improving production systems and the sustainable development of rural properties.

The technical services provided by IBS cover strategic areas of dairy activity, such as reproductive, sanitary, and nutritional management of herds, zootechnical management, and the adoption of good production practices.

The project also promotes complementary actions aimed at strengthening association and cooperation, as well as engagement initiatives for youth and women, contributing to the collective development of properties and the sustainability of dairy activities in the region.

The initiative seeks to support producers in qualifying their dairy activities, contributing to increased productivity, improved milk quality, property sustainability, and the development of rural families.

Strategies

The proposed solutions stem from the application of a set of consulting activities and resources, structured to adapt the production process and ensure the efficient use of production factors.

The framework below illustrates the strategy and the processes to be addressed:

These strategies will be implemented with the producers through specific and complementary activities, as illustrated in the scheme below:

• On-farm consultations will be carried out with the participating producers, providing practical guidance on the procedures and management practices required for the implementation of the agreed improvements.

• The training sessions will include a learning program on artisanal cheese production and the implementation of good practices during the work process.

• Digital content will be made available through the CheckMilk application to reinforce learning activities and ensure continuous monitoring.
